mrkndhm The reason I love this record, is that despite being over 60, I am forced to dance about to it - non stop and grin at the lyrics. It is no longer possible for me to negotiate airports and traveling without having dry cleaning blaring into my soul - I could not deal with mankind without the driving rhythm, the poignant early 80’s guitar, and the laconic musings of this wonderful band.
Diggit! Innit? Favorite track: Traditional Fish.

helloant can think of no greater compliment than the fact that the guitar work reminds me of Ricky Wilson (RIP) Favorite track: Magic of Meghan.

Joe Madden An intoxicating combination of toughness with despair and vulnerability. Chiming, raw, angular guitars float above pulsing rhythms. The lyrics toggle between scattershot randomly impressionistic and unsparingly self-conscious. Reminds me a bit of Parquet Courts, but I prefer this because despite the ferocity, it's haunted by a melancholy dreaminess that I'm just in love with. Feels distinctly British to this American listener; I don't think it could have come from anywhere else.
